This app is a fun educational tool that allows you to study and pass the LEED certification exam. This exam is for those who wish to learn the process of sustainable building for their homes, businesses and or for commercial purposes. Through the LEED exam you will pretty much become a lean mean green building machine learning all the tricks and tips to turn your home into a sustainable oasis. How cool is the idea behind this app? It’s sort of like a flash card system for adults for the LEED exam. The Eco Flash iPhone app is not free. Price: $19.99

2. Watt Quiz

Here’s another fun iPhone app aimed at adults to learn about home energy that  with each correct answer given, you get to pass along free watts to various charities through Donors Choose. It’s like Free Rice.com the site that also quizzes you and with each correct answer, you get to donate free rice to developing nations. As you learn tips on home energy usage via the built-in game on the app, you get to do some good at the same time. Not too mention do so in a fun way. The Watt Quiz iPhone app is free and available online via the website or via the iTunes app store. Price: FREE

3. i Recycle

Try as we might to recycle, sometimes we don’t have all the necessary facts and or resources we need to figure out when, how and where best to recycle something. Via the iRecycle iPhone app you can figure out which local plant will take what item and where you can drop off. You can also enter in the name of an item such as car battery, computer monitor, lawn mower engine, etc and ask who will take and dispose of it properly. This is great for those who are time crunched and need a speedy and reliable answer filled recycling iPhone app.

Greening your home doesn’t have to be an arduous or expensive proposition, mostly what you need is a creative flair, a bit of elbow grease and the right tools and resources. You can make any room or space in your home more earth-friendly via a series of minor changes such as but not limited to upgrading the floors in your home with eco materials like bamboo, installing low energy appliances in your kitchen, remodeling the basement with low-VOC paint or your bedroom could be upgraded with hemp linens or organic cotton drapes, and so on it goes.
